Urbanists of the National Research University Higher School of Economics participated in the Global Mayors Forum in Guangzhou, China

Jointly organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, the World Urbanists Organization and the World Metropolitan Association, the forum aims to disseminate experiences in urban innovation and sustainable development.

Together with Chinese colleagues, the HSE team presented the Urban & Innovation Environment Index project at a special session of the High-Level Urban Opening-Up - Global Cities Research, dedicated to the problem of urban openness and innovative development. The report aroused great interest of the forum participants, city authorities and urban development experts from Asia, Latin America, Africa and other regions. The index was the result of the work of an international consortium of scientific organizations from China, India and Russia and was first presented by Chinese colleagues at the BRICS International Innovation Forum in Moscow. The proposed tool for assessing the balance of urban development was widely discussed and received positive feedback in the leading Chinese media, which emphasized the exclusivity and innovation of the proposed approach to assessing cities.
